O’s Notes: Inara George is a vocalist and composer. She wrote the music for An Invitation where she sings in front of an orchestra conducted by arranger Van Dyke Parks (p, accordion). George has a soft gentle voice that she attaches to lyrics that are almost spoken. The lyrics to many of these tunes are bordering on suicidal (“Right as Wrong” and “Accidental”) and begging for love on “Duet”. Collectively it sounds like a blend of folk, pop and jazz. It will appeal to a select audience.
