O’s Notes: Saxophonist Paolo Recchia plays free jazz and hard bop mixing four solid original works with generous arrangements of five covers. Nicola Muresu and Nicola Angelucci anchor the piano free band with featured trumpeter Alex Sipiagin joining on several tracks. There is more joy in Paolo’s music than the anger that is frequently associated with free jazz. This is especially apparent on his “Boulevard Victor”. We also enjoyed “Lazy Bird”. This is Recchia’s second release as a leader and he is on track!
