O’s Notes: Veteran drummer Louis Hayes has anchored some of the best jazz ensembles including work with Oscar Peterson, Dexter Gordon, Sonny Rollins, Woody Shaw, and Horace Silver’s quintet in the late 1950s. He swings on Artform Revisited with Abraham Burton (t-sax), Steve Nelson (vibes), David Hazeltine (p), and Dezron Douglas (b). This is the same lineup as on their last release, Exactly Right(79) and they are just as strong. Burton breathes passion into “You’re Looking At Me” including a crisp solo by Hazeltine. Douglas stands tall on “Ruby” with nice work by Nelson and Burton as well. Nelson shines on “G” to wrap up a strong encounter.
