O’s Notes: Ask The Ages was the final recording for Sonny Sharrock before he succumbed to a heart attack at the age of 53. It was rereleased late in 2015 as many are just appreciating his contributions to free spirited jazz-fusion. Sonny doses out a wealth of raging guitar solos with Pharaoh Sanders (sax), Elvin Jones (d) and Charnett Moffett (b) in what was a rocking jazz-fusion band. Sharrock’s signature includes audacious attacks with distorted, edgy licks that still swing.
