O’s Notes: This is a large ensemble complete with a sophisticated and warm horn section. They are powerful and cool. Bebo plays piano and enlisted some of New York’s finest musicians for this effort including Paquito D’Rivera (sax, cl), Ray Vega (t) and Dafnis Prieto (d). They play mambos, percussion heavy Afro-Cuban cha-chas all composed, arranged and conducted by Valdes. They never let the Latin fire die down. There are 2 audio CDs and a ‘making-of’ DVD!
