O’s Notes: Vibraphonist Behn Gillece makes great use of sustained tones to create the desired mood. Bassist Peter Slavov makes his presence known throughout the session with dexterous finger-work and using the bow! Art Hirahara (p) and Vinnie Sperrazza (d) round out the rhythm section. Patrick Cornelius (a-sax, s-sax, b-cl), Diego Rivera (t-sax), and Altin Sencalar (tb) provide warm brass in all the right places warming up Between The Bars. We enjoyed the mellow tones on “Mindful Moments”, swinging on “Due Up Next”, “Apogee”, and the title track.
