O’s Notes: Sons of Kemet is a contemporary British jazz-fusion band led by saxophonist and clarinetist Shabaka Hutching. Theon Cross (tuba), Tom Skinner (d) and Eddie Hick (d) round out the band on Black To The Future addressing collective oppression and including rappers from both the US and the UK. The lyrics are not always discernible but the rhythms and the messages are powerful and potent. They skip the message and focus on pulsating beats in the second half highlighted by “In Remembrance of Those Fallen”.
