O’s Notes: Trumpeter Dan Jacobs coaxes a rich, mellow sound from his horn. It fits well on these cool, blue ballads. He is complemented well by guitarist Randy Dorman, especially on “Fields of Gold” and “Blues d’Jour”. They jump into a bossa nova beat for “Amor en Paz” and capture a mysterious mood on “Nadalin”, tunes that complement the Blue After Hours theme. Dan dedicates the recording to Bobby Shew, a great trumpeter. It is a worthy dedication.
