O’s Notes: Boom Bang, Boom Bang! is the latest release from drummer Charles Ruggerio and indeed he is banging quite a bit but with poise and characters as he leads a quartet with Ian Hendrickson-Smith (fl), Jeremy Manasia (p) and Barak Mori (b). We enjoyed the mellow tones on “Elmhurst” and Hilary Gardner’s sweet vocals on “I’m A Broken Heart” two standouts in the ~35 minute, six song set.
