O’s Notes: Brazilian mandolinist Hamilton De Holanda is back with the second volume of Brasilianos. He co-produced the album and composed all of the music with contributions from his band mates Daniel Santiago (g), Gabriel Grossing (harmonica), André Vasconcellos (b) and Marcio Bahia (d). The music is upbeat and festive with warm harmonies that soothe the soundscape. Highlights are “Ajaccio”, “Ano Bom” and “Virtude Da Espperana”. There is also a bonus DVD featuring the quintet at Jazz Sous Le Pommiers 2008. The video is well done with close ups of the solos that amplify the musicians’ talent!
