O’s Notes: Earl plays trombone and assembles a room full of horns for Brass Carnival. He scales back to a sextet called Tribute for five selections. In either configuration this is truly a jovial brass attack. Renée Manning breathes soul into “All I Have To Give” and then supports Earl on “You’re Hot”. Both vocals add a pleasing element to the mix. McIntyre composed and arranged all of the music except for the aforementioned vocal and “Ellington’s “Come Sunday”. This is a fine, fresh set centered on a New Orleans-style jazz celebration.
