O’s Notes: If you like blues with a western swagger, music from guitarist and singer-songwriter Doug MacLeod is a great place to start. HIs latest is“Break the Chain“in a quintet with Oliver Brown (perc), his son Jesse MacLeod (vocals), Jimi Bott (d) and Denny Croy (b). The stories Doug tells are relevant, on point and real, like all great blues. We liked “Who’s Driving This Bus”, the title track and “Mr. Bloozeman”, a few of MacLeod’s stories that typify his brand of blues. This one is a lot of fun.
