O’s Notes: There’s a unique tropical feel to Shah’s music, owed to the combination of Modern Popular Brazilian (MPB), Classical Indian, Mandé, and contemporary American jazz on Cape Verdean Blues. This one is tilted more towards Brazil. We enjoyed the bossa nova beats on “Flor de Lis”, and the crisp accompanying guitar on “Chaki Ben” featuring Maalem Hassan Benjaafar. Other highlights Include “Angola”, “Amor Di Mundo” and “Joia”.
