O’s Notes: I am not sure I knew what to expect of Cartoon Bebop other than what we’ve come to expect from Dan Bonsanti’s (producer, arranger, tuba) large ensembles. He’s up to his usual great stuff and the Saturday morning set kept us smiling end to end. The music spans many styles and tempos. Highlights are “Dayride”, “Driftin’”, “Infant Eyes” and the title track. The roster is packed with all-stars including Ed Calle (sax, fl, cl), Peter Erskine (d), Mark Egan (b), Ed Marina (sax, fl, piccolo) and many others who help make this sizzle.
