O’s Notes: Randy Sandke (cornet), Dan Barrett (tb), Dick Hyman (p) and Howard Alden (g) lead a strong cast of musicians who are celebrating the 100th Birthday of the legendary Bix Beiderbecke. The CD is loaded with 19 songs, ragtime instrumentals and even a few vocals. Bix was a master on the cornet, always seeking to further his skills. His work was and is still appreciated by many. Although he died at only 28, a victim of alcoholism, this session helped carve his place in jazz.
