O’s Notes: This is Canadian pianist JF Girard’s first instrumental jazz solo album. Clin D’Ïil means a wink in French and we cheerfully acknowledge the greeting as Girard gives us nine originals along with a cover of Ron Carter’s “Little Waltz. The groove is contemporary jazz but much more sophisticated than the standard smooth jazz entry as Girard leans on his vast experience in TV, classical, stage and concert venues. Highlights are “Les Vaques Transquilles”, “Le Piano De FamilleDay” and “L’oiseau Moqueur”.
