O’s Notes: The Verve Jazz Ensemble (VJE) includes seven members: Josh Feldman (d), Elias Bailey (b), Steve Einerson (p), Tatum Greenblatt (t), Jon Black (t-sax), Alexa Tarantino (a-sax, fl) and Willie Applewhite (tb). They perform as a septet, trio (p, b & d) and three quintet configurations. The rhythm section is common across all units and maintains a swinging foundation. VJE originated in 2006 and have evolved to become a reputable band. They pay tribute to the famous jazz label“Verve“with their name and their performance spans the wealth and variety of associated recordings.“Connect The Dots“includes 13 crisp arrangements of popular jazz tunes. “Disc Jockey Jump”, “Autumn Life” and “Love For Sale” are a few of the best.
