O’s Notes: Bassist and composer Andrew Binder puts together a mix of contemporary and modern jazz that is delightfully rich for Conspiracy Diliracy. The music is engaging with lots of brass and percussion. Binder’s bass work is strong on “Moonwalk”, the funky “Katy Is A Lizard”, and “Beyoncé Is The Illuminati” with solos from trombonist Frank Niemeyer and trumpeter Justin Dyar. Kurt Reeder (p) and Max Oshawa (d) shine on “Mandela Effect”. Guitarist Jose Gobbo joins the party on “Dark Side Of The Mattress Firm” to round out a fine session.
