O’s Notes: Pianist Ben Paterson leads a trio with bassist Neal Miner and Aaron Selber on drums. They open with Cookin In The Couve, and they live up to the title! They rehearsed the early takes during performances at Frankie’s Jazz Club in Vancouver before hitting the studio at full speed. These guys swing hard without gimmickry. We like the bubbly swag of “Chicken ‘N Dumplings“, “This Here”, “North Pond Stroll”, and “Up The Exchange”. Ben is almost giddy with his bubbly exchanges on the keyboard and the trio is lock-in-step with him making this a winner.
