O’s Notes: Pianist Renee Rosnes has a love for Brazilian music and Crossing Paths is her expression of classic Brazilian songs. She engages Brazilian artists Chico Pinheiro (g), Rogério Boccato (perc), and Maucha Adnet (vocals) along with American musicians Steve Davis (tb), John Patitucci (b), Adam Cruz (d), Shelley Brown (fl), and Chris Potter (sax). The vocal selections capture the true essence of Brazilian music notably “Casa Forte” & “Pra Dizer Adeus” featuring Edu Lobo (vocals), “Essa Mulher” featuring Joyce Moreno, and “Canta Canta Mais” featuring Adnet. Our favorite selection is “Frevo” including a rich solo by Patitucci.
