O’s Notes: Lenny plays sax and Tony plays guitar. They lead a core quartet on Desert Flower, a fresh set of contemporary jazz. The program includes ballads, neobop and spirited bossa nova. Guest artists Randy Brecker (t), Joe Locke (vibes) and Cleve Douglas (vocals) make a meaningful impact expanding the band to a quintet on 7 of the 10 selections, eight of them originals by the headliners. This is an enjoyable session for all jazz lovers.
