O’s Notes: These thirteen songs are a collection of originals written and performed entirely by John Gatti. He uses a wide array of keyboards and electronics to mimic a full band and does a good job of it. The music is inspired by many of the destinations John and his wife have visited. That includes Yankee Stadium, New Orleans and the Caribbean. Some of the best songs are the festive Latin cuts “Cast Away” and “Old San Juan”. We also enjoyed the cool swagger of “Struttin’ Around Pines Lake” complete with harmonized scatting, the taste of New Orleans on “Saltimboca” and the funky groove of “Cooling Down”. The combination of modern and smooth jazz works out to be a relaxing set that is easy to embrace.
