O’s Notes: Albare (Albert Dadon) is a guitarist who owns a jazz venue in Melbourne, Australia called The Bird’s Basement. He is a part of two local bands that perform in the venue. The Jazz Alchemists lean towards modern jazz while The Harmonix Experience is more soulful contemporary jazz. Eclecticity is an excellent snapshot of the Melbourne jazz scene! Core members of both bands are bassist Phil Rex and percussionist Salva Persico. Pianist, co-producer Phil Turcio plays on eight of the ten selections. We enjoyed “Long Haul”, “Morning Dance” and “All Night Blues” in a session with no losers.
