O’s Notes: Edible Flowers is free flowing, experimental jazz performed by an unusual grouping of two tenor saxophonists, bass and drums. Jessica Jones (t-sax) is the headliner matched with her husband, Tony Jones (t-sax), Stomu Takeishi (b), and Deszon Claiborne (d). They let go of all inhibitions, but gel on central themes over six selections. They thread the needle for those precious free jazz fans who will be delighted. “Soft Target”, “Little Melonae” and “Higher Than” are favorites.
