O’s Notes: Tenor saxophonist Rich Halley presents his quartet with Michael Vlatkovich (tb), Clyde Reed (b) and Carson Halley (d) on the heels of the highly regarded Creating Structures released less than 12 months ago. These musicians have worked together for over a decade now with 6 albums under their belts. Their music has a straight ahead American jazz foundation with generous amounts of spontaneous free improvisation. There are Eleven songs, all Halley originals that entice the listener to dream their dreams. There is a lot of space around the instruments allowing full appreciation for tone, mood and feel. Avant Garde fans will find nirvana here and some traditionalists will also latch on.
