O’s Notes: Drummer composer Marcello Carelli doesn’t slow down on his sophomore recording. First Impressions are fantastic on this collection of mostly original material. They start out blazing on “Ahead Of The Curve”, moving to emotional ballads like “Parting Ways”, and a cool cover of “Recorda Me”. Carelli has a very lively and engaging performance with bassist Mike Gurrola contributing fine solos on “Wanna Bounce” and “Play It Cool” where Bob Mintzer (t-sax) and Russell Ferrante (p) complete the circuit.
