O’s Notes: Five & More is the third release form the Bay Area bayed quintet. Five Play is guitarist Tony Corman, pianist Laura Klein, David Tidball on saxes & clarinet, with drummer Alan Hall and Paul Smith on base. The music is all originals composed by Tony, Laura and David. They are a polished unit with a fresh swinging contemporary sound. We liked “What Bobby Said”, “Rosa Rugosa” and “Stella Steps Out” are among the best in a balanced set. They infuse several guest artists to make this a strong session.
