O’s Notes: Flying High is a spirited collection of classic jazz tunes, a little bit of ragtime, some blues, some bop, vocals, and rousing swing. It is dedicated to the great female jazz vocalists of yesterday. Of note: Olivia Chindamo on “I Don’t Know Enough About You”, Jane Monheit on “I Only Have Eyes For You” and “Social Call”, and the soulful take on “Lullaby Of The Leaves” featuring Carmen Bradford. The band is also strong centered around musical director, co-producer, pianist Champian Fulton who also sings on several selections notably “All Of Me”. It’s a proper salute to the big band canaries!
