O’s Notes: Amos has a gutsy mellow voice that fits well with the blues he’s singing here. There are eleven songs, all the work of Percy Mayfield, one of the greatest blues writers of all time. He questions the validity of love on “To Claim It’s Love” & “Fading Love” and pleads with his baby on “Never Say Naw”. Amos does well voicing these tunes and playing guitar too! Just when we thought he had no backbone he sang “Get Way Back” with some great work from Dave Babcock on sax as well. But then his girl left him anyway – “Ha Ha In The Daytime”. We enjoyed these blues.
