O’s Notes: Japanese Canadian flutist and composer Ron Korb presents a true Global Canvas on his latest release, blending Asian, Latin, classical and jazz genres in a clean palate. The music provides a sense of adventure and calmness with gentle notes and melodies underscored with well-placed percussion by Rick Shadrach Lazar. They open with Asian flair on “Dream of the King”. There’s a taste of Cuba on “Havana Sun”, and continuing the tropical theme with “La La Formosa” and “Azure Nights”. “Ankor Wat”, “Peace Flute”, and “Hanamatsuri” showcase Korb and guitarist Ray Hickey Jr.
