O’s Notes: This collection of classics is truly a gem featuring the late vocalist Nina Simone in prime form, singing a dozen classics recorded from 1967-1972. “Feeling Good”, “I Put A Spell On You”, and “I Loves You Porgy” are a few of the best. Simone’s characteristic dark tones are paired with the lyrics in a symphonic 43-minute performance culminated with a resounding live rendition of “Mississippi Goddam”.
