O’s Notes: Bennett (p) and Gregory (b) combine forces with Keith Hall (d) Gilad (perc), Chris Creek (sax) and Alex Norris (t, clave & chékere). The program consists of mostly upbeat, syncopated Latin fusion written by Paster or Ryan along with Strayhorn’s “Chelsea Bridge”. They open with the calypso beats of “Tones for Joan’s Bones” that sets the tone for the remaining eight tracks. It is spirited music that will get your juices flowing. Among the best were “The Chick from Panamaá” and the powerful “PoMoAfroMoFoJo”.
