O’s Notes: These two veterans Hank (p) and Frank (fl, sax) get together and show us what jazz is supposed to sound like. They are swinging hard on “You Made a Good Move” and “Sara’s Song” while getting seductive with the bossa nova beats of “Autumn Serenade”. Ilya Lushtak inserts a strong guitar solo on “A Hankerin’, Jones’ lone composition on the set. Wess adds a few of his tunes and the balance are cool covers. Drummer Mickey Roker and John Webber (b) anchor the rhythm section and keep the beats precise; key ingredients in a very good session.
