O’s Notes: This is yet another release from the Japanese jazz pianist, Satoko Fujii. She is focused on free space here with Natsuki Tamura (t), Norikatsu Koreyasu (b) and Akira Horikoshi (d). There are nine new originals with and ample doses of improvisation. Tamura even find a way to blow the fluids out of his horn in a musical manner on “Beyond The Horizon”, a track that takes on many personalities. The rhythm section sticks to structured patterns for the core of “Ring A Bell” while Tamura explores new territory. This approach bodes well in a session that at times is packed with rage.
