O’s Notes: Pianist, composer Ted Rosenthal’s latest release is High Standards, the first of four new albums to be released as a Trio in 4 Acts over the next year. All the music was recorded Summer 2024 with his two working trios. Martin Wind or Noriko Ueda play bass with drumming duty relegated to either Tim Horner or Quincy Davis. The nine selections on High Standards come from different eras yet all have a bubbly swing quotient regardless of tempo with Rosenthal’s fresh arrangements. “Old Devil Moon”, “Everything Happens To Me”, “One”, and “Lover Man” are notable.
