O’s Notes: Hot Club of Detroit is the brainchild of guitarist Evan Perri. He has been heavily influenced by Django Reinhardt and as the name of the band suggests some of the early swinging jazz. The band is a sextet with 3 guitars, bass, accordion and clarinet. The program includes tunes by Reinhardt and other similar music. While Perri is only 26 years old, he does a great job with this music. The only thing missing is the hiss, easily absent with today’s recording technology. The band has talent does a great job bringing the “Hot Club” concept into the new millennium.
