O’s Notes: Pianist Rachel Eckroth takes a break from electronics returning to a mostly acoustic session on Humanoid. Guitarist Andrew Renfroe takes charge on the opening title track, establishing a cool jazz-fusion groove anchored by Eckroth with Billy Mohler (b) and Tina Raymond (d). Renfroe opens “Fleurette Africaine” and Mohler starts “Evolution” with a fine solo. We also enjoyed “Strange Meeting”, “the relaxing “Lawns”, and the mild reggae beat on “Vines”.
