O’s Notes: Jazz vocalist Lisa Rich has withstood many obstacles including vocal atrophy, but she’s not only bounced back but sounds as good as ever.  I Still Rise is a statement of resilience. Her accompaniment is minimal (mostly duets and trios), but strong featuring pianist Marc Copland, bassist Drew Gress and trumpeter Dave Ballou. The songs are a combination of freshened classics that are passionate, relevant and meaningful. Among the best are “Beginner/How Can We Sing About Freedom?”, “Èstate”, “Ancient Footprints” with Ballou, and “No Moon At All” featuring Gress. Rich delivers a stunning performance!
