O’s Notes: Chip plays an assortment of saxophones and flutes on a combination of classics and covers. The music is warm and relaxing, easy to enjoy. It is traditional jazz but not too heavy and will appeal to a broad spectrum of jazz fans. Guitarist Lou Volge, Nate Shaw (keyboards), Marcus McLaurine (b), Dwayne Cook Broadnax (d) and Steve Kroon (perc) make up Chip’s band Peacetime and they keep things mellow. They put a reggae spin on Duke’s “It Don’t Mean A Thing” that gives it new life! That’s followed by the swinging groove of Chip’s “Salt Rhythm” and “Valdez In The Country”. It’s a relaxing set.
