O’s Notes: Marcus needs no introduction as a bassist, composer and living legend. He’s made many artists’ music sizzle and pop, especially guys like David Sanborn and Luther Vandross. On this set, Miller is the leader with his own band and he’s dong it well, displaying a wealth of talent and prowess. Michael Patches Stewart warms it up on trumpet as well especially on “So What”. The facial expressions of the team are worth the price of the CD alone, lots of emotion. Guest vocalist Lalah Hathaway sings her heart out. The package includes a 2nd CD with interviews and a historical perspective. Very nice.
