O’s Notes: Will Kennedy (d), Jimmy Haslip (b), Russell Ferrante (keyboards) and Bob Mintzer (sax) are the Yellowjackets, a top contemporary jazz band. This live session was filmed at Ohne Filter Musik Pur in Stuttgart, Germany during 1994. This is a television series featuring music not typically seen on TV. Their groove here is as strong as ever on seven songs. The audience was most appreciative encouraging an encore the blues based “Run For Your Life” that included explosive solos all around.
