O’s Notes: Pianist Satoko Fujii and Natsuki Tamura (trumpet) frequently play free jazz and fusion but this duet has more of a symphonic feel on the opener, “Strange Village” as well as many other tracks in this set. The rage surfaced in Tamura’s notes on “A North Wind” and they quickly assumed their more typical creative posture. However, as a duo we found the presentation to be palatable and easy to digest. We were able to appreciate the tones and feeling of each note with the more open soundstage of two accomplished musicians.
