O’s Notes: American jazz pianist, composer Russ Lossing goes solo on Inventions, a suite of six introspective improvisations. It is built on his life’s experiences in many genres from classical to electronic to free jazz. He also experiments with the sounds from his instrument, presenting a spontaneous set that extends from the mysterious “Invention III” to the intriguing “Invention VI”. While it is free jazz, it is quite approachable, expressive, and dynamic. There is ample opportunity for listeners to engage and enjoy.
