O’s Notes: This is a live recording featuring New Orleans type jazz that swings. It is atypical of the rock and blues that Jeff is more widely recognized for but he is up for the trip as evidenced by the title. Healey’s (t) band is called The Jazz Wizards and they are an entertaining bunch. They coaxed Chris Barber (tb) to join them on tour and he ads a punch that makes them shine. Barber’s vocals on “Basin Street Blues” and “It’s Tight Like That” are spot on. And the Wizards are also a strong crew and the audience let’s them know it. There’s an element of bluegrass in here, and it’s all good, hearty entertainment.
