O’s Notes: When Louis Armstrong plays it is immediately recognizable, an entertaining festive event. He sang and made his horn sing as well. These fourteen tunes originally released during 1926-1941 with his Hot Five and Hot Seven groups. “I’m Gonna Getcha”, “Knee Drops” and “Tight Like This” are a few of the best. The music has all of the layered swinging melodies that defined the hot jazz of the period.
