O’s Notes: These guys came on the scene in the late 1980s. They are a brassy octet led by Greg Davis (t). Their music combines New Orleans marching beats with an injection of funk and a dash of bebop. You can swing on vocal dance tracks like “That’s How You Got Killed Before” and work up a sweat with the super syncopated beats of “Use Your Brain”. You will hear their intensity over 14 songs recorded during 1989-93 when they were one of the most entertaining bands.
