O’s Notes: Trombonist, producer and composer Delfeayo Marsalis leads the Uptown Jazz Orchestra for his latest release, Jazz Party. And yes indeed, this is a party atmosphere all the way through with an element of enthusiasm to warm up the audience. While the festive instrumentals are dominant, we also enjoyed the Karen Livers vocals on “Moboya’s Midnight Cocktail”. They throw a little calypso into the mix on “Caribbean Second Line” and are true to form on “So New Orleans” featuring Tonya Boyd Cannon and Dr. Brice Miller on the mics. You’ll find it hard to resist bobbing your head, tapping your foot or/and shakin’ your rump!
