O’s Notes: Alexis has a beautiful voice, projected in front of The Taipei Jazz Orchestra for Jazz Republic. The music is pleasant in a session that filled with beautiful solos from many talented musicians. Cole stands out in “Bye Bye Blackbird”, scatting on “Corcovado”, and soaring on “Begin the Beguine”. Featured saxophonist Brandon Fields shines on “Common Ground”, and the band stands strong, complimenting Cole on “Uptown Girl” and “Here’s That Rainy Day”.
