O’s Notes: Mexican, American pianist Joshua Espinosa has encompassed two cultures to become his own man. He has similarly combined classical training with jazz to create his signature as a jazz artist. He forms a trio with bassist Mikel Combs and drummer Jaron Lamar Davis for his debut recording‘Journey Into The Night. The program includes nine selections including four originals, a session that Espinoza dominates yet all members get time in the spotlight. We enjoyed “Nocturne for AnnaMarie”, Birdsong” and the fresh cover of “Take The A Train”.
