O’s Notes: After a quarter of a century as a side man, tenor sax player Lew Del Gatto makes his debut as a leader. He does so with an accomplished group of musicians and friends including Randy Brecker (trumpet), Steve Turre (trombone) and with some solid guitar work from Joe Cohn. Harmony, bebop, swing and in the pocket blues make the combinations work. It’s a lot of music for a bargain price from Naxos. Highly recommended!
